The American Fireworks Standards Laboratory (AFSL) is an independent, non-profit corporation established in 1989 by members of the fireworks industry to:

  • Develop and maintain voluntary safety and quality standards for each classification of fireworks.
  • Assist manufacturers in improving safety and quality in the design, manufacture and performance of fireworks.
  • Provide a testing program to determine whether new and existing fireworks items comply with AFSL standards.
